Julian DiMarco was born on the 12th of January, 1974, in Manhattan. He was raised in Fairbanks, AK, where he attended Lathrop High School and studied Literature at University of Alaska – Fairbanks. At that time, he was known by friends and family as Jake Bonjour.
He left Alaska to explore Boston, and then Los Angeles, and finally found a new home in Seattle, where he spent the last decade employed as a Software Development Engineer in Test.
He was artful in fabricating with metals, wood and wiring. His interest in theosophy, creative writing, and assemblage inspired him to “…produce artifacts and fiction from an alternate timeline where magic exists and is common, and everything Jules Verne ever thought of is a reality.” He credited the work to a fictitious character called Mr. Able. He tended to give away his creations to his beloved friends. He kept a journal of his works at The Able Workshop.
Julian loved to cook, and enjoyed fine food and drink to excess. He considered it almost a sacred duty to feed his friends. He was a patron of the arts, and displayed many of his friends’ works in his home. He was an enthusiastic raconteur, and loved dedicating a few hours to a good phone call.
He passed on July 1, 2014, in his Seattle home, from health complications. The memorial was held on July 5, 2014. He is survived by his son Talon, daughter Arianna, mother Susie, step-father Randy, sister Katy, and a community of friends who also loved him like family.
